Continental AG has been in Hanover since 1871 and is unusual in the tyre trade for also being a first-tier automotive systems supplier — brakes, electronics and sensors sit in the same group as the tyre business. Truck tyre production for Europe runs out of plants in Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Portugal.
